HS2

I was watching Billy & Susannah on BBC's brand new dumbed down breakfast show for those of the intellectually challenged and they were interviewing an MP about the merits of HS2.

HS2 for those who don't know is a £33 billion railway linking London with the North. London is already linked to the North, but this link will take around 40 minutes off the journey.

It's not being built for a few years and it has to be said the populace aren't really in favour of this expenditure, especially when everything else is being slashed and we are heading for triple dip recession

There was a time when our railway system was the best and the envy of the world, our underground was a major feat of engineering and we were the leaders of the new world. Anyone who has spent a few hours in the summer stuck on the Central line will no doubt have their opinion on this.

HS2 is a complete waste of money, we need to seriously upgrade our infrastructure as it is, rebuild the whole network to high speed standards, yes it will cause disruption but think of the gains.

China has built its new road and rail network in a matter of years to rival anything the west has to offer.

We take a similar time to go through planning.
