A devastating World

If you read or watch the news too much you could be led to believe that the world is doomed. We are globally $100 Trillion in debt, Ebola and AIDS are killing millions in Africa, Google is becoming Skynet, Lunatics are killing people in the States, Pakistan and Australia.

All we need now is a natural disaster and it truly will be Christmas.

Despite all these atrocities, one item has stuck out more than most, Malaria related deaths have been reduced by 50%.

I will shortly stop reading and watching the news. It is too depressing, too distorted and too mis represented for my liking.

The US has been manipulating oil prices for a while and now Russia is on the brink of bankruptcy and has been forced to raise Interest rates to 17% - I would start investing there again but its just a little too volatile this time.

Parts of Iraq / Syria are lawless and parts of Afghanistan / Pakistan are now the same. This is Bush / Blair's parting shot. Lets see them both face a War tribunal. Except it will never happen because it will mean that the whole system is flawed.

Solutions are few and far between - Lets write off global debt for a start, then address the whole issue of the middle east. Not with bombs this time. Killing people doesnt work because there are a 1,000 more people to replace them. And they will be even more peeved.

The Green Menace

I was travelling in Morocco shortly after the 9/11 attacks and was talking to some students who feared the demonisation of Islam and Muslims in general. They feared that they would be treated as the communists were before them.

That was over 10 years ago, since then the West has gone to war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Arab spring has happened, and many 'jihadist' groups have formed. Each one creating a bigger threat than the last. The West was duped into believing Bin Laden was the bond villain and on his demise everything would be back to normal.

Except it isnt, we now have ISIS, who differ not only in their brazened barbarity but their wealth and their arms. Face it, they are so brainwashed they do not give a toss about the West, they will kill with impunity because the garden and the virgins await them.

Except it isnt as simple as this. The Western media have put so much spin on this issue it is difficult to work out what the hell is going on, except the US are still waging a war of sorts which sporadically involves other nations, even IRNA are getting involved.

But to what end? An Islamic state is never going to happen due to the divisions within Islam. And the Sovereign nations of the world wont allow it to happen.

I have been speaking to who I thought were intelligent people recently, who are now wanting the complete annihilation of the Middle East and for Britain to be ruled by White Supremicists and who are calling me a terrorist apologist. Its a troubled world, always has been, always will be. In the average month 108,000 people are killed globally in road traffic accidents, yet Jihadists kill 5,000 in a month and the BBC goes all Interactive on us.

It should be remembered that the US spend nearly 50% of the Global Arms budget and they will forever be seeking ways to justify this. I liked Hilary Clintons quote "You cant expect to keep snakes in your back yard and only expect them to bite your neighbours".

Still, its Xmas soon and everyone is getting braced for the annual consumer fest. I will be spending it amidst friends and loved ones who can see through the lies.

Meanwhile in the Middle East...

Back again - I just cant keep away from this social commentary thing, there is just too much going on.

The Middle East is hitting headlines with regularity, ISIS (or whatever anacronym they have nowadays) are now hated by offically everyone, so much so that even old IRNA wants a pop at them, and who would have thought that they had some old US 'Nam planes.

The politics of the region is insane, all because of one split in a religion in 632. And the US insatiable desire for meddling, oil and war.

The two super powers in the region; Israel and the House of Saud are both backed by the West. Whilst the rest falls apart due to petty and barbaric infighting.

All very depressing really, still, Black Friday has taken everyone's minds of these things, that and the vacuous consumer fest that is rapidly approaching.

Like the thousands of people that cant afford to live in the capital I have moved from Mayfair to the suburbs, Barnes actually, lovely little spot with a pond and where I bumped into an aging Jimmy Page (my nephew was very jealous, appraently he is a very good guitar player - although not quite up to Joe Pass standards)

I spent the summer amongst the French in a delightful cottage in the Dordogne, collating my memoirs and awaitng that lucrative book deal and potential six figure gagging order.

Meanwhile the rise of Fallange's UKUP is proving laughable, and the migration debate is sapping the energy of the prol's - Honest Dave like Obama has proven completely ineffectual, roll along the next election...

And nothing changes...

Its been a while but the news is the same, MH370 is still missing, Putin is still flexing his muscles over Ukraine. Obama is still meddling. Honest Dave is still being a cretin. People are still killing people. Some people are doing wondrous things. Nature is enacting revenge for years of pollution and abuse. Syria is still imploding. Afghanistan is still a not very friendly place to be if your female, foreign, gay, christian, young, old, or male.

The evil Bliar came out into public and spouted some rubbish about extremism. The man who took us into 2 highly unnecessary wars and helped bankrupt the country.

Bankers are being bankers.

The spud faced nipper is still earning £300,000 per week and the billionaires from the other side of the pond have sacked his boss because they are losing £200million and aren't playing in Europe and wish they had signed Mourinho or for that matter Brendan Rodgers.

The UK is trying desperately hard not to be racist but agreeing with Mr Fallange.

I myself am dealing with the irksome trolls that are Estate Agents. I have decided to sell my Mayfair Pad and downsize to somewhere less overrun with Russians and Arab Oil Billionaires.

I have also been frequenting the Guardian comments pages, an all together different scenario to those at the Beeb, a lot of left loonies but on the whole some very witty people who have cheered me up.

That and the excellent second series of The Bridge

Losing planes and war in Ukraine

Its been a strange couple of weeks

On the one hand the whole world is cooperating and sharing satellite information in the vain hope that the Malaysian plane is still in tact and hiding on a desert island under the command of some bondesque villain.

And on the other Ukraine's independence is being whittled away by the mother land as Putin aims to keep the Crimean peninsula Russian.

Or so the press say.

The media is awash with speculation and rumour, being posted and reposted as fact. And it is so frustrating for the Malaysians that the only people who know for sure where their plane is is the USA, and even they cant extrapolate its pings from the lone satellite that picked it up.

In the UK Oxfam have announced that 5 families are worth more than the combined wealth of 20% of the UK. Not quite up their with the 82 people that have more wealth than half the planet.

Scarey stuff, and when Steven Hawking fears for the future of the planet you know we are in trouble.

And history repeats...

Wayne's new Salary

This boy now earns £300,000 / week

Lets think about that

£300,000 per week.

This boy earns more than Obama, Cameron, most Prime Ministers, Most Scientists and more than most of the planet

Staggering

Obscene

Ludicrous

Vile

And the prols still bemoan the Bankers....

Badgers, Ukraine and Regulation

Reading the boards today and there is much calling for the Environment Minister Owen Patterson to resign

From the floods that have outraged a few land owners (who should check their deeds before buying land on flood plains) to the pointless cull of TB carrying Badgers, it has all gone wrong again.

One wouldn't want to be in OP's shoes at the moment, he the climate change denier who has links to both Monsanto and Dupont is the one that has allowed such fiasco's.

Or is he?

Those of us who know know that he is a scapegoat, the problem is endemic in the coalition and in society as a whole. We had it so good for so long under the good ship Nu Labour that we didn't notice the rot. And it is rotten. In a country where we cant decide where to put a new airport or a new train link we are becoming the embarrassment of the world.

Mrs Merkel has come to stay to tell Honest Dave the true plan for Europe, which of course he is not a part of. And as we want to leave due to immigrants and pointless EU regulations Ukraine are descending into civil war.

Oddly enough shortly after Top Gear went to Syria it kicked off and now shortly after their sojourn to Chernobyl its kicking off there. All eyes on Vietnam now...

So Ukraine struggles with the might that is the old mother land and the die hards everyone else just sits around and scratches their heads wondering where it all went wrong.

I have been dealing with a lot of solicitors of late and they are revelling in things, all this new regulation gives them more work to do and at £220 / hr they are going to make a lot of work.

Its going to be a long year...

Flappy Birds, Journalism and the Environmental Agency

As the media whip themselves up into a frenzy about floods, flooding and the end of the world. Lets spend a thought for The Environmental Agency.

An Agency that has been stripped of resources and cash during honest Dave's lets try and sort out the economy fiasco is now being blamed for floods and not dredging rivers.

The Somerset levels back in the sixteenth century were marshes and it is only human intervention that has prevented them being so ever since. So when the EA whose cash pot has been vastly dwindled, has no money to dredge rivers (and whether this is the only action that can prevent flooding is also up for debate) it spends its money in other places were flooding is a greater risk, like cities.

So the argument now becomes one of City Folks v Country Folks.

And the city folks are busy being distracted by another Bird Game.

I am looking forward to the day when news is just that, news. Its not sensationalist, it is not biased, it is not distorted or tweaked and it doesn't apportion blame and isn't looking to sell column space. It wont rely on celebrity or looks or wealth, it will be just that, news.

Unfortunately this isn't going to happen whilst i am around, so I suggest all the journalists go to the levels and the rest of us can pray for some more rain....

On another note i was watching the Snowboarding yesterday and raise a glass to young Jonsey, a fine act. Shame the commentators sounded more like Radio 1 DJ's

Snowdens Angry Birds, the NSA & the thing called Bieber

Happy New Year! Well, it was but I have been busy.

2013 was a strange year and now we are faced with more of the same. I was watching Billy and Susana's BBC dumbed down breakfast show this morning, whose target audience eludes me and its all the same, politicians being caught out, civil wars, celebrities being stupid, the population being bemused as to how we allowed everything to become so crap. And the weather.

The internet is now awash with spyware so much so that anyone with any sense will be hibernating to the dark net and avoiding anything that is popular.

Spying is now carried out on everyone so blatantly that everything we do is monitored, from the stories we read to the games we play to where we are in relation to everyone else. HSBC are saying that customers cant have their money unless there is good reason. Argentina tried that one and looked what happened there! China have tried to suppress the Bitcoin market but to no avail. The digital currency is coming whether they like it or not.

The first bitcoin cash machine is soon to be opened in the city.

HS2 and Boris airport are still being discussed and in the time it takes us to make any infrastructure decision, China will have built another 72 airports and Turkey a Nine Runway airport to become the hub of the world.

And a petulant thing in the USA drives his £200,000 sports car whilst drunk and assaults the press because he is 'troubled'. And 82 people are worth more than half the planet.

Chelsea is now full of the uber rich and the uber poor and the average house price in London is now £400,000

Somewhere in the last 20 years we took a disastrous turn.
